Santa Fun Run

In the run up to Christmas, we are so looking forward to the annual Santa Fun Run taking place on the streets of Monmouth at 10a.m. on the morning of Sunday 3rd December 2023. This year, we will raise funds for the charity Mind Monmouthshireand we will also be having a collection of items for the local Foodbank, so please bring items along to registration.

And it really is a fun, family-friendly event – only 2.1km and you can run, jog or walk. There will be literally hundreds and hundreds of adults and children taking part, dressed as Santas, elves, grinches… or just a bit of tinsel in their hair. (see pictures of past events below). So please come and join us. Enjoy the run and earn that finisher’s medal (this year, made of wood and biodegradable ribbon).

In 2022, we raised over £1,600, which was split between two local charities, so let’s see how much we can raise this year. Entries are £7 for adults, £3 per child or £20 for a family of five.  Cash only please! Entries open at 9am at the old Monnow Bridge. Don’t leave it too late because we did reach our 500 entry limit on a previous occasion!  Ideally, please bring a printed completed entry form with you (see the paragraph “Entries” below) BUT entry forms will also be available at registration.

Review of some previous events

review of the 2017 Monmouth Santa Fun Run  – that Saw a Record-Breaking 491 Santas Take Part!

The annual Monmouth Santa Fun Run took place on Sunday, 3rd December 2017 in near perfect conditions. A staggering and record breaking 491 Santas took to the streets raising money for this year’s chosen charities, Sense Cymru and the Monmouth and District Foodbank. This is an annual event, organised and marshalled by the runners of the Spirit of Monmouth Running Club.

Our special thanks go to Barclays Bank for their matched funding, Monmouth Boys School and School Sports Club, Wyemedia,  The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club, Timpson, Brighter Food, Wild Trail, Cafe2U (Quedgeley), Monmouthshire County Council, and all of the Spirit of Monmouth RC members who turned out to ensure a festive and safe fun run for all.
We hope to have raised in excess of £2000 for this year’s chosen charities.
